There are so many worthwhile organizations to partner with for Christmas giving this year. What an enormous gift these organizations are to deserving families in our communities.
This year, we’d like you to consider the model Brown House has been using for the past several years, and partner with us.
For our annual Brown House Christmas sales, we curate a Christmas toy list based on suggestions of neighborhood mothers, grandmothers, aunties and other caretakers. We then ask our friends and partners like you to donate items on that list. New and unwrapped.
We then take the items and sell them.
Yep.
We sell them to our neighbors.
As parents and caregivers, many of us know the anticipation and excitement of shopping for and hand-selecting gifts for the ones we hold most dear - our children.
There is joy.
There is pride.
There is DIGNITY.
We want to extend those sacred encounters to everyone in our community who is tasked with the privilege of bringing up children.
A parent can now buy a brand new bike for $10. A football for $2. A handful of stocking stuffers with spare change. A baby doll for $5 - that very baby doll that perhaps a mother wanted, but couldn’t afford at a retail price.
All proceeds from the sale go directly back into our community for our After-School-Thing that meets three days a week during the school year.
In addition to using the earnings for for our tutoring program, we’re also going to be sharing our earnings with a dear friend and neighbor who just lost her husband of eleven years. The two share two, beautiful elementary aged children, whom we are all very close to.
So, partner with Brown House this year.
Give in a way that perpetuates joy, honor and dignity to those who so deeply deserve it - and support a family during their time of grief.
