Ribbon Cutting

Celebrating Stephanie's 1st Year as Publisher

By Stephanie Horton, MK Tuscaloosa Publisher July 31, 2022

July 22 was a celebration of publishing for Macaroni Kid Tuscaloosa for one year, along with a ribbon cutting at Rita's Italian Ice/ PJ's Coffee owned by Bill Getchell {former University of Alabama football player}.  In attendance were friends, family, Mayor Walt Maddox, and members of the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce.  Hearing from West Alabama Chamber representatives, the mayor, and seeing friends were definitely the highlights.  There was a snack table {with FREE PJ's beignet samples}, crafts, and balloon animals {provided by "Mr. Macaroni/ Josh Horton}.

In July of 2021, my first weekly newsletter went out.  Here we are a year and "fiftyish" newsletters later, and it's all possible thanks to our generous sponsors and gracious readers.  This year our sponsors have been Kim Harwood of Harwood Real Estate, PARA Kids, the Tuscaloosa Gateway, Mary Harmon Young, and Rita's of Tuscaloosa.

Macaroni Kid is and will continue to be a fun and FREE resource for families sharing local content about events, resources, and locally owned and operated businesses.  We are serving not only Tuscaloosa, but also Northport, Brookwood, Buhl, Carrolton, Coker, Coaling, Duncansville, Fosters, Holt, Moundville, Samantha, and Vance.  Our goal is to be your one stop shop to find family fun.

So as we look back on this first year of publishing, we have enjoyed so many wonderful aspects of it.  The best part has been the joy of meeting you- the Macaroni Moms, Dads, and caregivers.  Getting to hear your stories, and share some of them.  It has been fabulous to host some local giveaways, share love bug bags {Valentine's} and bunny bags {Easter}, learn about local resources, and "tour our town."  As we look ahead, there are so many things we anticipate.  It is such a joy to serve you!
