Friday morning, on December 3, the Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre hosted a homeschool show prior to opening night. Thomas Elliot Ferry playing the part of Buddy the Elf. Other cast members included Kai Miller as Santa Claus/ Matthews, Addie Arnold as Jovie, Eli Sims as Walter Hobbs, Clara Parker as Emily Hobbs, and Brady Taylor as Michael Hobbs. There were so many other notable characters in this whimsy musical.
The tale trails Buddy the Elf as he is on a quest of self-discovery when he learns that he is truly a human (not an Elf!). With a blessing from Saint Nick, Buddy travels to the city of New York where he meets his work-a-holic father, and help him get off Santa's naughty list. Buddy not only earns the love he longs for in his new family, but also the love of leading lady Jovie.
By the end of the show my children and I found ourselves humming a "Christmas song" along with the cast and ensemble as snow flakes began to fall. Spreading joy to all who attended the cast and crew of Elf JR the Musical along with their leaders such as Ms. Drew Baker (Director), are a highlight of the Christmas season!
