A Note from Your Publisher

Week of October 25, 2021

By Stephanie Horton, MK Tuscaloosa Publisher October 25, 2021

Hi friends!  It's Hallo-week, a time of fun, family, candy, tricks, and treats.  I hope you are having a fabulous week so far.  We started out the day with some friends at the park, and I must say the weather was perfect.  Fall seemed to linger in the air like a hug, then by lunch time it felt like a spring day.  That Alabama is like a surprise each day of the week.  I'm so thankful for faithful weather men and women.

This weekend we had so much fun at the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk at the Government Plaza.  We made new friends and saw some celebrities like Big AL, the princesses, and Olaf.  It was a wonderful event with many great organizations participating with fun stations for the children.  Thank you to Mrs. Kelly Johns for organizing the event!

Take a moment to read an interview with Mrs. Stacey Messina, Executive Director of Tuscaloosa Children's Theater.  She is bringing her "A-game" to TCT and this amazing community of actors.  Elf Jr. the Musical cast has been announced over on their website.  Congratulations to each one who will be in the upcoming production!

This week is loaded with great Halloween Events!  I'll be updating our events calendar daily, so keep checking back.  Some highlights include fall fests, trunk-or-treats, Trick-or-Treat at the Museum, pumpkin patches, "Haunting at the Museum," and more!

Thank you to everyone who has been sharing events via our submit events tab or on social media.  It helps me so much to help you "find your family fun."  I hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween!  I was able to partner up with Ms. Charlene Wilkinson of Safe Kids Tuscaloosa to bring our community her top tips to keep kids safe trick-or-treating.  Be sure to check it out HERE.

IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU!

Hi, I'm Stephanie.  I grew up in North Carolina, and would visit family in Alabama at least twice a year during that time. So even though I'm not technically from here, UA is my team.  Roll Tide!  Some of my favorite memories from those visits were day trips to Tuscaloosa that included shopping and time at CHOM.  I am an online English teacher, homeschool mama, and pastor's wife.  I love spending time with my family exploring our beautiful community.  If I'm not teaching or taking my children to drama, ballet, or soccer, I love going on long walks by the river and trying out all the local coffee shops.
