A Note from Your Publisher

By Stephanie Horton, MK Tuscaloosa Publisher July 25, 2021

I find myself wanting to balance taking is slow and simple while also being ever so thankful for a calendar with lots to do.  This summer seemed to have flown by.  Here I am staring at the last few days of July, and making back to school preparations.  Whether your children are going back to school, homeschool, or you are staying home with joyful toddlers or babies this season of savoring summer days will soon transition to more moderate temperatures and football season.  Roll Tide!  I just want to remind you in all the planning you may be doing for the next season, to take it slow when you can.  Treasure each hug, bedtime story, family bike ride, or day by the lake.  Take the picture, and don't forget to be in some of them.  Time waits for no one, and yet time truly is the best gift we can give.  So as I look to this new season, I am not just savoring the moments in a sense of loss or want.  I am truly treasuring the gift of time to be with ones I love.

Some of the things that have made it to our "Last Days of Summer List" are

  • Family bike ride along the river
  • Lake Day
  • Picnic in the park
  • Library story time
  • Snow cones
  • River Market and breakfast
  • Bonfire and s'mores
  • Indoor camping
  • Movie Night

These truly are the simple memories that will be ones I hope my kids remember forever. The things that remind them how loved and valued each one of them are.

Speaking of valued, I am so very thankful for each of you who have subscribed recently and joined the Mac Kid Tuscaloosa family.  I am also very grateful for those who have been in this transition along with me. I have been a Macaroni Kid fan for years!  Since my oldest child was a little one, this wonderful resource has been such a great tool in finding quality events and activities for my family.  I am grateful for the opportunity to share with each of you.  I hope that you will help me in finding events happening in our wonderful community, and submit them.  Please, share about our FREE resource with your family, friends, and local businesses.

God bless and Roll Tide,
Stephanie
