The Children's Closet Sale 2017

By Athena Shore April 11, 2017

I have always been a shopper, a lover of clothes. Even as a child my mother told me I would sit in the stroller and feel all the fabrics as we strolled by. I poured over fashion magazines in high school and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC I even styled a few fashion layouts for Tuscaloosa Magazine. As I grew older and had my own apartment, my interests expanded to home goods and home decorating. I became a hunter looking for cool, unexpected things to put in my space, make it my own. I LOVED flea markets, vintage stores and yard sales. Naturally, after children, my interests turned away from myself and onto my kids.

Having been a hunter, of sorts, I still wanted to find that special item with a special price tag attached. It is shocking how much kids clothes, toys, furniture(all of it!), go for. Most of the time the items are gently used and can easily be used again. When I discovered The Children's Closet, I felt like I hit the motherload! They have things for all ages, sizes and tastes. Always at a great price. I have not only been a shopper with the sale for many years, but I also consign. It's a great little money maker with the consignors receiving 60% of the selling price.

After the Children's Closet Sale runs,  April 15 - April 21, then it's time for My Sister's Closet and Dad's Garage Seasonal Consignment Sales! Running April 29- May 5, My Sister's Closet sells women's clothing and home goods, Dad's Garage sells tools and  items along those lines. It is the largest and longest running sale of it’s kind. It’s been locally owned since 1998. The current owner, Robin Early, makes the shopping and consigning experience so easy! It's well organized and easy to shop. Not all consignment sales can claim the same! You are likely to find whatever you may be looking for and at the right price at this sale.

Robin also has deep ties in the community, giving back at each sale. They donate to area charities, such as Wings of Grace and The Salvation Army. The Pack A Sack event at the end of the sale raises money, giving the proceeds to an individual in need  from our community.

There is not a more fun way to recycle, reuse and resale!
