TCT Presents James and the Giant Peach,Jr.

By Athena Shore March 30, 2017

When I first moved to Tuscaloosa I was really taken with the theater community here. They are always putting on great shows at affordable ticket prices and the shows are performed in the historic Bama Theatre, can't beat that! The atmosphere of the old theater lends it's self to the magic of a play. I also think it's fantastic that many of the schools get to go see some of these shows on field trips. I know my kids are always eager to go and come home excitedly telling me all about what they experienced. Because live theater is just that, an experience.

The Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre is a great presence in Tuscaloosa. They started small in 1986 with a group of parents, educators and theater professionals who saw a need for a children's theater in town. Since then, it has grown quite a bit and now puts on multiple shows a year.ย

The spring show will be an adaption of James and the Giant Peach. For those unfamiliar with the story, it is based on Roald Dahl's quirky story about courage and self- discovery.ย When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

The show will be held this week for the schools and opening night is Friday April 7 at 7PM. With additional shows on Saturday afternoon 2 PM, Saturday evening 7PM and ending with a Sunday matinee at @PM.Prices range from $10-$15 purchase your tickets hereย https://tickets.vendini.com/ticket-software.html?t=tix&w=cb89112b61750ed80900860f7502df52&vqitq=8ba76a6e-dd68-4083-bf24-9f6c4b7e95d7&vqitp=b5293cc9-9495-45f4-b9ac-4b97a399aaa9&vqitts=1491224974&vqitc=vendini&vqite=itl&vqitrt=Safetynet&vqith=fdfb96e77b653b4053dc11ad1ba70b0a
